I watched the pavement get bright when the sun set and the street lights rose.
I thought about the circus in the parking lot outside work.
I thought about my own life and death,
and I thought about my home.
I thought about junior prom.
I thought about fitting into dresses and the soft and hard places of my body.
I thought about the way I’d like to be kissed.
I thought about smiling at someone you haven’t seen in awhile.
I thought about people not knowing if they could laugh at our jokes,
and I thought about being the only one in an elevator.
I thought about breathing fresh air after leaving a building and breathing fresh air right now.
I thought about how to keep flowers from dying and my email address.
I thought about moving, and then
I thought about my hands in the grass, and that made me alone.
